The Mop-Up – Sergeant Humiston was a Union soldier during the American Civil War, and the picture of his three kids was more than just solace for him as he passed away. at all likelihood, Humiston’s monument at the Soldiers National Cemetery would have said “Unknown,” leaving Mrs. Humiston and her children to wonder how their soldier died if he had not carried it with him into battle and died gripping it. The Humiston family, on the other hand, received closure and was able to move on with their life.
