At the end of the Civil, War Forrest attends church, one of his formal adversaries became a preacher, and his words about black and white touch Forrest’s heart.
Forrest’s life reminds me as an Artist and Writer of this story of another slave-trader turned Christian by the name of John Newton, who wrote a hymn you might have heard of: “Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see.”
