Here’s a third-party quote from. “Kevin Anderson & Associates “New York Times Editor & Ghostwriter”
This is a fascinating memoir about artistic talent, wasted potential, dreams deferred, drug abuse, and many other aspects of your life that have led you on your path to self-realization. While some situations are difficult to read about, like your experience in a halfway house and your descent into drugs, you write with a keen sense of humor and self-awareness that make the reader root for you. Many scenes, such as when you bring a gun to school, feel cinematic, which goes well with the running motifs of movies, Hollywood, and your desire for notoriety. Often what occurs to you feels like an embodiment of the phrase “truth is stranger than fiction”—which is a testament to how compelling your writing is.
Thematically, I especially appreciated the role of art and painting in your life, how it is an escape during your childhood, builds your confidence, and provides you with a sense of purpose. It is truly inspiring to read about and provides a strong connection to the reader. No matter what happens to you or the questionable choices you may make, the reader is always pulling for you to succeed and overcome your demons. Overall, this is a riveting piece of storytelling that feels authentic and real. I’m very glad that you chose to tell it and that you (and your mother) can look back and laugh about some of your experiences!
